1 year after someone bit into a contaminated burger & practically the entire population of the USA have turned into flesh eating zombies. The motley crew of non-zom survivors include a nerdy, neurotic college kid with a droll line in voiceover ("I never much liked people, but now they've all turned into zombies, I kind of miss them), Woody Harrelson's crazed badass gunslinger (who gets all the best lines & delivers them with scenery chewing glee) & a charming pair of con artist sisters heading for Pacific Playworld, a theme park they've heard is a zombie free zone.
Red of claw & tongue in cheek Zombieland is just the kind of knowing B-movie to have warmed the cockles of my inebriated teenage heart had I chanced upon it as part of a late night double bill 30 years ago. Even if it doesn't live up to the pacey sick humoured 1st 10 minutes, it keeps moving, is packed with movie references (including a fatal cameo from Bill Murray) & doesn't skimp on the gory action.
A sequel is apparently in the offing & I for 1 will get a takeaway & a few beers ready for its DVD release.
