Chapter 24

Postby Chris P » Wed Jul 21, 2010 12:12 am

All together now :
A movement is accomplished in six stages
And the seventh brings return.
The seven is the number of the young light
It forms when darkness is increased by one.
Change returns success
Going and coming without error.
Action brings good fortune.
Sunset.

The time is with the month of winter solstice
When the change is due to come.
Thunder in the other course of heaven.
Things cannot be destroyed once and for all.
Change returns success
Going and coming without error.
Action brings good fortune.
Sunset, sunrise.

A movement is accomplished in six stages
And the seventh brings return.
The seven is the number of the young light
It forms when darkness is increased by one.
Change returns success
Going and coming without error.
Action brings good fortune.
Sunset, sunrise.

What brought that on, Chris?

If you're going to start quoting Syd Barrett at us I say unto you:

"It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here
And I'm most obliged to you for making it clear that I'm not here
And I never knew the moon could be so big
And I never knew the moon could be so blue
And I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes
And brought me here instead dressed in red"

Well as all you flipsters know this is trad arr. Barrett, the words being a lift from Chapter 24 of the I-Ching.

What brought it on was the brown aci..., woops, I mean the news that Robin Williamson is recording his version of the song (& the Band's Whispering Pines too) for his next album.
I can imagine he can inhabit this particular song of Syd's very well, it's almost made for him, + I've heard good reports of it from his recent gigs.

For now I leave you with his version of that well known wifty-wafty mystical anthem Lemmy's 'Ace of Spades':
