Songs for the Beginning of the Year

As we emerge from the annual tunnel of Christmas songs, are there any worth knowing about that concern the early part of the year ?

There was Pilot's gratingly jaunty mid-70s pop hit 'January', of course, and I vaguely recall one or two ballady/croonerish songs about New Year's Eve (did Julie London sing one??), but nothing else.

Is it just not worth marking in song, or am I overlooking lots of good stuff ?

And referring to another of today's topics, I just realised that Lhasa had a track on The Living Road entitled 'Para El Fin Del Mundo o El Año Nuevo'

A strange and dark song with an almost Sylvia Plath like quality. The lines almost foretell in an uncanny way what happened.

What a shock the news of her death is.
