Honky Tonk listeners

Surprising message received at my BBC email address:

from: Peter Wells

dear charlie

when we were young we used to listen religiously to your program on radio london. It was before or after that great reggae program (which i forget the name of)

we were all 'art heavies' at sevenoaks school

andy gill (gang of four)

tom greenhalgh (mekons)

Charlie higson (the higsons and of course everything else)

tom king (gang of four)

and of course me

what a pretentious bunch we were; but we loved your show and now we are all old geezers and we still love your show even if it has moved to the world service.

At that time I was doing art a’ level and in the holidays used to paint in an old barn near my house. Here's the painting inspired by your show!

all the best www.peterjohnwells.co.uk

Enjoyed the artwork at the above website. Pedantry alert : the (great) picture entitled Santoor Player shows someone, maybe an African, playing a lute type instrument not a santoor (aka hammered dulcimer)
