And this thread gives me an excuse to dig really deep into the history of Parisian popular song (and Youtube allows me that!). You'll see the name of cabaret singer Aristide Bruant in many books about the Montmartre night life in the early 20th century. Lautrec's portrait of him is famous. But have you ever actually heard him sing?
