Unless Sue absolutely insists on your opinion on the clothes, I'd sit in or outside a cafe with a good book...

Thanks for that Jacqueline Taieb clip, Con!
I didn't know that one at all, but it is terrific.

I'll add my bouquet garni to the recette de cuisine:

Boris Vian - Je suis snob.
Vian was the most Parisian of them all.

Oh, and then there are Les Ogres de Barback.

A seriously rocking neo-trad. band, vehemently gauchiste in the fine French tradition.

This sort of thing used to be popular with the garçons down Paris way:

Another "tube" by Joe Dassin:

His only listenable song, if you ask me.

Try as I might I can't stop them coming. I'm rather fond of Paris...

Les Negresses vertes - remember them?

And this thread gives me an excuse to dig really deep into the history of Parisian popular song (and Youtube allows me that!). You'll see the name of cabaret singer Aristide Bruant in many books about the Montmartre night life in the early 20th century. Lautrec's portrait of him is famous. But have you ever actually heard him sing?

Here is one of his songs from around 1910:

I know, you've been & gone by now, but I've only just found the thread.
This one's worth considering for the next trip.
