Usually anything Roots Reggae cheers me up especially in the morning. Dub from the 70's and the roots of MIDNITE.

At work, country music. I listen to the Finnish public radio YLE at work (BBC broadcasts don't get past the firewall I guess), and their swedish channel's country music programme is a lot of fun.

I'm not even trying to pretend I know many of the artists - it's just music that cheers me up at work, most of the songs are classics of country, I think.

My MP3 player is currently set to alphabetical song-title and segued from California Dreaming (Bobby Womack) to California Uber Alles (Dead Kennedys) - that amused me greatly - you probably had to be there.

More seriously Emmylou Harris' version of C'est La Vie always brings a smile to my lips as does Race For The Prize by the Flaming Lips and Walenumalombaliya by The Rail Band

Yesterday, Judith's post of Manfred Mann's "Doo Wah Diddy" cheered me up enormously. So I dug out "Hubble Bubble Toil and Trouble" which cheered me up even more.

"I never knew a girl who was so (whispered) Hubbly-Bubbly"...

This from a respected and venerable BBC broadcaster (hem-hem). At least, Charlie never stood on a podium armed with nothing but a pair of maracas - well, not that I know of...

This song probably wasn't suppose to cheer me up but gosh darn, I can't help but sing along tooooo... dun da dun...

... William Bell's "I forgot To Be Your Lover."

Ah man the electric guitar intro into the strings, and talk about soul. Mr. Bell is so smooth he would make swiss chocolate look american.
