There's an interesting interview with DC crime novelist / "The Wire" producer & writer / former Radio Ping Pong guest George Pelecanos in today's Observer Magazine.
His last book, "The Night Gardener" was a partial return to form fiollowing some recent formulaic efforts. Like others on this Forum, I'd given up on him. "The Night Gardener" doesn't break any new ground but feels a lot fresher, perhaps because, as he explains in the interview, he got to hang out with the Washington police for the 1st time. Apparently they allowed him to tag along with them because of his involement with "The Wire" which they're all big fans of.

it's been on my list for a while. first up, seasons 4 and 5 of the wire, however.
