I only like people I talk to here to be real. I can't stand fakes!
It's a long and complex story that I am considering how, or whether, to tell. The short version is that I am quite utterly fed up with the moronic psycho-drama-queen self-help clique group aspects that have taken over large areas of the forum's mindshare. You know, the Animal Farm meets Lord of the Flies as channeled through class antagonism element. My final straw was the mobbing that David Flowers received for his comment re Spartacus. It wasn't well stated — David is not a natural writer but I agree with his basic sentiments.
I know there are ways to filter things out, but they don't work too well when you click around like I do. Anyway, large areas of the forum have been inducing feelings and behaviour in me that I don't really enjoy or find admirable. And I wanted to remove myself from those feelings — or remove those feelings from myself; I'm really seeking the peace in life not the aggro. So, I wanted to draw the line under my past involvement. I needed a technique. Obviously, I wanted to keep my name out of the hands of evil sock puppeteers and such. This was the way I figured out to do both. Much better and easier than deleting every comment I'd ever made as the old (username removed).
It doesn't mean that I won't read. Maybe even occasionally post. I am somewhat sad that it came to this. I've resisted it for several weeks, but the time came when I just couldn't put up with some of the idiocies and I couldn't keep quiet about them either, which only made the idiots louder.
I have, or had, a point to make about the behaviour of another member and I'm sad that I appear unable to make that point either under my own name or in a dramatic fashion through a sock puppet. Nearly four years on the forum and a bloody clown like (name removed) is driving me out! It feels like when your old favourite local gets invaded by a crowd of loud rude idiots and the publican doesn't care because they're buying more drinks.
