Dixie Special

Postby Jamie Renton » Fri Jun 05, 2015 12:30 pm

Nearly there, so lets all get Dixie Fried: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiZiYOKQLbI

Then have some Dixie Chicken:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z-GwdaKrn8

Has anyone got any more Dixie flavoured suggestions? (Or are you all just whistling Dixie?)

Damn. Listening to The Carter Family song has led me straight into a childhood earworm of "The Gal With The Yellow Shoes" (ain't nobody like her......giddyup, giddyup, etc etc).

Get me out of this, please.

Dare I do this? On the other hand, this was the first week on my new job, and yes, I feel kind of elevated.

You did Kari, but you dared put up Happy and introduce us to Guiliano Whatsisname, both perhaps best served as the cheese course but great fun all the same.

Excuse my earlier indiscretions. here's another song by The Carter Family (well, Sara and Maybelle in this film) with "While The Band Plays Dixie". They both look a bit down, I must say.

Does anyone know the make/model of the autoharp Sarah's playing? I want one...

Randy Newman's 'Dixie Flyer' is a bit slow for a weekend, but this isn't:

And this is very nice. Ignore the visual, the song is 'The Dixie Bo-Bo':

I went to see the film "Second Coming" during the week and I'm pleased to still be haunted by and puzzling over it.

This features towards the end of the film. I can't really think of a better slice of "the sun's out the weekend's almost here" pop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2eJNU7ZFJw

Last Saturday at the annual Shout Collective Jump Blues Party in Montisi, Italy. Local boy and honorary Shout Collectivist Roberto gets on the decks, opens with some Junior Wells, follows it up with Howlin' Wolf and then this great and greasily rockin' version of "Train Kept A Rollin'" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cd1gRHk28IE

I mean The Yardbirds f.f.s, with Eric bleedin' Clapton. I'll be reading Mojo next and watching Top Gear for the music.
