Happening tomorrow if anyone fancies it. Dom & the Ikos have really nailed that New Orleans sound (think Prof Longhair, Dr John, James Booker). Norman, Aly Deb, & hopefully Joe Cushley & Nikki are on DJ duties with me + special guest DJ Lil Koko.

Will & Adam hope to be there too, so there should be a fair few friendly forumista faces.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

SUCH A NIGHT shoobee doo doo doo

So many young women
So many old songs,
A perfect combination.

So hard to leave a rockin' bar
To get back to the station.

Many roads to travel,
Many trains to ride.....(but managed to avoid the replacement bus service).

Fabulous night....great records - half remembered, long forgotten;
And great favorites turning up on the decks as happy accidents.
Spectacular dancing!
Dom and The Ikos...a revelation.

As a way of explaining to my wife what she missed we've had The Meters, Neville Brothers, and Tommy Ridgeley churning away in the kitchen this morning.

What was that song that referenced all the food items, including rice pudding)? I feel I ought to know it, but can't recall.

A million thanks to Jamie and the Shout Collective.

Yup, les bons temps certainly rouléed. It was one of my great gigs for this year (the others have all been blues-related, and also at the Jamboree).

The Collective had a forward planning meeting, in between the first glug of mulled wine and last sip of absinthe, and a Tex-Mex evening was mooted. Names were suggested. It won't be a food-themed night.

We'd like to re-live the glory days of the mid-1980s when Flaco and his band were a regular feature on the London music circuit, but it's not likely that he'd be playing now for the door money.

Glad to see you again, Will. Two weeks running as well. But did we run out of things to say? Never!

Sorry I missed it. I had other commitments, but it sounds like it was a good one.

Dom and the Ikos were simply, superb. Tight without being uptight, they rocked brilliantly.
Another great Jamboree gig. Thanks Jamie.
V good to see Will and Ted too. Three weekends of forumistas gathering together, lovely.

Really sorry I missed it. I was just too knackered to go across London and back after busking, teaching and gigging...

Me too. Looks like I (we) missed out. I explained my failure to attend to Jamie, but I hope to see you all at some point in the near future.

I'd still really like to know. Can anyone bring it to mind?

It wasn't one of mine Will.
Aly? Norman? Deb? any ideas?
(I'll check with Kate as well)

I hope to set next year's dates with Jamboree soon. Would it be worth my while posting them here straight away? even though I won't have confirmed the live acts?

Given the quality of musicians you've booked for Jamboree to date Jamie, we'd all be daft not to put the dates in our diary regardless.

R&B songs mentioning food, Will? There's a novelty! Can't think of the one it might have been. Any hints? Was it cajun, blues, rock, post-rock, or Louis Jordan (the usual suspect)?

I had this with me on Saturday but didn't get the chance to play it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svPvaQli7O4

Mind you, given the response I got last time I played a swing style tune at Jamboree, perhaps that's for the best.

"There's a butcher's
In Delancey
Who'll cut you anything
That you fancy.
Brisket, bola,
Liver for chopping
And his cousin's got the pickles
For the rest of your shopping....."

Klezmer also has a preoccupation with food.

Dyed in the wool mid-tempo New Orleans R'n'R...I guess L'il Koko must've played it.
