I still agree with me, except I like Kevin Ayers a bit more than I did.

I am glad. The Noel Coward of the English counterculture deserves some slack from you - even if he was posh.

Well found, John. Kevin was never going to make it to 70 though, was he?

via Marcos' posting at Robert Wyatt group on Facebook from Kevin's daughter, Galen, thanks for sharing this:

Happy 70th birthday dad. We celebrate you every time we sing your songs or quote your wit. I miss your laughter and sparkle and helping you look for your guitar pick. I haven't left your side, even though you have gone. Every time the music turns on, I know you are singing along

That's lovely, thanks Chris.

Here's Kevin and Robert Wyatt singing together really rather beautifully:

(Funnily enough, the song is exactly the kind of thing Pink Floyd used to do very well - before Roger Waters got hold of the iron rod - but they could never write lyrics as good as Kevin's.)

Too late! It has already been copied, screen-grabbed and stored and will be held to be used as possible evidence in The International Court of Music Tastes and Related Abuses. History will be the judge.

We, in Metro land, all smoke cheroots, my dear.

I learnt to un-love Pink Floyd when I went to live in London in 1974, it really wasn't the right kind of thing you see.

1974 was probably a good time to stop liking Pink Floyd as it goes. Odd really though as I'd absolutely loved Pink Floyd as a spotty young sprog living in deepest suburbia.

Years later and several trips back in time and around the world - thanks in part to Charlie G and Paul V - my mind eventually freed itself of all tyranny surrounding music. And I realised I was free to love Pink Floyd all over again. Which I do! Well... pre 1974 anyway.

Hi Norman - how are you? Dont worry, we'll stop banging on about cycling soon enough, the season is coming to a close.
