Oh..... This made my day (penny finally drops)

Postby Adam Blake » Fri Jun 13, 2014 8:28 pm

Today I was busking on Portobello Road. It was a beautiful morning and I was just enjoying the music and not worrying too much about making money. I had a decent sound on the little busking amp, the guitar was in tune, my mojo was working and all was right with the world.

After awhile, I noticed a little old lady with very piercing eyes hovering nearby, listening intently. I smiled and carried on. She listened some more and then when I paused she approached and said how much she enjoyed the music. She said she organises life drawing classes in the neighbourhood and would I care to be a model. I said, yes, I'd be fine with that. We talked about time and money and all that. She took my card. I asked her name. "Bobbie", she said. I didn't really give it another thought until just now. Then it hit me. I did a quick Wikipedia search on images for Bobbie Korner. Yep. It was Alexis Korner's widow. That's nice...

Who knows, she may have lost my card on the way home. I may never see her again, but the lady who fixed breakfast for Big Bill Broonzy (and many others) stood on the street today listening to me play the blues. I like that.

Ah.... wonderful.

I once met Kevin Coyne's ex in a pub in East Dulwich (where you've played, Adam), though she never asked me to be a model. I do hope this goes ahead; you've every right to be pleased, and excited.

And I heard just now that my daughter got a 2:1.
Friday 13th. Unlucky for some...

Yeah, me. A pedal broke off my bike at relatively high speed and dumped me in the road. Cuts and bruises but otherwise ok. Too bloody old for that sort of caper mind you.

Good luck with the modelling Adam....Rodin's "The Busker" comes to mind.

Ouch! I am sorry to hear it, Will. I had to buy a new bike the other day because the front wheel took a whack. I was lucky, though, and managed to stay upright.

What? You choose a Friday when I'm not working to busk on The Bella? (as the locals refer to it) Friday 13th indeed.

Please let me know when you next plan to busk on a friday, as I'll organise my lunch break round it.

Jamie, I busk most Fridays if the weather is decent, usually between 11am and 1pm.

Thanks, Andy.

She's a clever girl. Spent about 12 years trying to get her to read a book. Now she won't stop!
