The death of the drive-in

Judith (I think) mentioned drive-ins in another thread, so I thought there might be few here who would be interested to hear of this project. Apparently, drive-ins are dying and, when the final switch over to digital is made, they will be gone forever. This guy is trying to raise funds to document them before they go:

The Velskoen Drive-In in Randburg, Johannesburg is still going strong, as are a number of drive-in cinemas in South Africa. I spent many drunken soundsurround (speakers clipped to the window) evenings there in the 60's. Unfortunately Top Star which was dramatically situated on top of a mine dump, doesn't seem to have survived.
