"Tha'll never stop fookin' in Bradford!!" ...is a choice phrase that has stuck with me from eons ago, said to a Magistrate as the soldier was dragged away from the court for playing pokeyholey in a public place. "Liquid velvet" was another as he was doing the deed.
Might of been from Spike Milligan's War memoirs or maybe it was a song like "Pump up the Bitter" by "Stars on 45"

All of this cultural diversity reminds me of:

and

For lovers of over-English eccentricity everywhere. I might see if I can pick up a pith helmet. Preserves the old bonce from the mid-day rays' intensity, and one never knows, esp around these parts.

I once visited the Tea & Coffee Museum in London Bridge. The usual odd collection of these and thats with the pride exhibit being the giant teapot, several feet in circumference. I noticed that the handle had been Araldited back on (not very well), and asked what had happened. "We loaned it to Blue Peter and they dropped it". A 'fookin' might have made this anecdote funny/ier, but not as good as yours, Willy.

Aw! Shucks NormanD. I thought I might get hauled up for going off topic (there's still time) but at least the Brown Joy song does contain a semi relevant lyric:
"Keep your sodding coffee in a proper copper coffee pot and stop me lobbing teapots at your poncey rotten coffee shop"

I think I can top that (for irrelevance, at least) with a clip of a song by a certain Binky Baker
It's pretty hardcore though so mind how you go..

To my shame, I *have* heard that before. And I'm pretty sure Binky was Anne Nightingales's old man.

I read somewhere that, when it came out Tony Blackburn played it a lot on his wunnerful Radio One programme, until he realised that the title was "Toe-knee Black-burn" and therefore he couldn't get any money out of it, at which point he stopped.

I've believed this to be true for years (decades in fact), but in the cold light of a Monday morning, ask myself "do you get royalties if a song names you? I don't think so"

Andy,
I still treasure my copy of said disc.

Jamie,
Up until last night, whilst fact checking, I believed that it was actually Ed Banger (as in Ed Banger and the Nosebleeds)
Now I'm told that Binky actually exists. Ah-ha, there's more good stuff on Toe-knee and Binkys' stormy relationship here:
http://www.radiorewind.co.uk/radio1/ann ... e_page.htm
which also contains a Radio 1 Jingles page including one made by The Who in '65, that you might like?

Edit: Sorry Andy, I got you and Adam mixed up

I saw them at the Marquee in 1977. They were brilliant!

This set me wondering, because Radio 1 didn't arrive until 1967. Looking at the page in question, it says that The Who are singing a version of their 1965 "My Generation" (as "my favourite station").

Recorded a couple of weeks after the arrival of Radio One - 10th October, 1967 for "Top Gear"
