This morning's twilight hour offered me a rendition of a reggae version of Buddy Holly's True Love Ways. I didn't get to dream what it had been re-titled as.

True Dub Ways? Jah Love Ways?

If ever I do something and then have to start it all over again, I find myself humming Mendelssohn's Spring Song, because of its use in the film Sullivan's Travels

Courtesy of The Great Danny Baker Show:
Tuva Groove sounds just like Bruce Forsyth trying to start his car on a cold day.
Give it a go (from 15-30s)and you'll never be able to listen to it again. (If you ever did).

Doing the weekly shop this morning, I came across something in the bakery section called Tiger Bread and thought "that's neat"...

Jamie, that record totally rocks. It did then, it does now, it always shall.

OK, how's this for a brutal ear worm. Every time I see the word "taramasalata" in a supermarket I hear in my head: "If you taramasa-f*cking-lata" you will live to be old" to this tune. This kicks off the rest of it. "Back in 1780 when Bulgaria was a la-ad" with that infuriating chromatic dissonance at the end of the line. Mike Batt, I hate you. Mozart, I forgive you. This tune has tormented me for 38 years.

Adam: I'm not sure what's more disturbing, the fact that that's your earworm, or the fact that, knowing what I'd find, I still felt the need to click on the link.

(In truth, I know it's the latter that's more disturbing)

I would say that was one of the better Wombles hits but that would imply I had given the matter of ranking them some thought......

The same-sex dancing couples are pretty ahead-of-the-curve, mind you.

Andy: Please list your top 3 Wombles songs in order

(Gives deadpan look directly to camera and says "I should be sorting out what I plan to play at an Afrobeat gig I'm DJing at tonight and instead I'm discussing the Wombles")

Well if I may interject my two nominations:
this one is probably the best:

I like the cod-Beatles bass descent and the tune on the bridge is definitely McCartney worthy.
But this one is undeniably catchy too:

I bet Mike Batt went to the Royal College of Music or somewhere similar. I smell classical training.

Never been to an orthodox Jewish wedding / do?

Superwomble, anyone?

Nice bit of Brit blues-pop. "He's so good looking, it really makes you sick...." isn't such a bad line either.

I'm impressed by my erstwhile heros' employment of Cretan lyra (or classical turkish kemence) and Greek bouzouki

Afraid not. Never considered a Hassidic spin on the Wombles.

'Remember You're A Womble' must of course be thanked for giving birth to the football chant that greeted the player Forget-His-First-Name Djemba-Djemba: " Dejemba-jemba-jemba what a womble-womble-womble you are....". Excellent.

So where do you think Great Uncle Bulgaria came from? Or, as would be said, when did he come over on the boat?
