A double CD of rare vintage Colombian sounds, compiled by Will Quantic, more info here:

I've been playing my promo copy quite a lot. It's pleasingly rough n rootsy with lots of accordion and whatever that scrapey percussion instrument is called.

Kind of like an even rockier Dengue Fever. I haven't played this for a while, so will give it a listen & report back.

Promo! You lucky boy, I had to pay for mine. That scrapey thing is a Guiro (gwiro) Have you noticed the title of track 3 CD1? It might go on the next podcast?

Lucky? I'm expected to toil away writing a review in return. You just can't imagine how hard it all is, sharing my opinions on music I like. Fortunately I know technical terms such as "scrapey percussion instrument"

I've often wondered whether my nearest and dearest went behind my back and begged fRoots to let me write for them, as it gives me an outlet for my musical addiction and therefore makes it less likely that they'll have to hear me going on and on about things like "The Original Sound of Cumbia" at home.
