Thanks for a great year. Notwithstanding the technical problems at this end that have occasionally blighted my listening pleasure (you'll be thrilled to hear that I heard the christmas broadcast right through without significant buffering) No Reason has been a real treat. It is almost enough on its own to satisfy my (admittedly slightly diminshed) musical curiosity.

Sharing music is wonderful and Charlie had it just right - a show that was a conversation. I know we always had the option of recording those shows on cassette but listening live was important to me, and if my addiction meant I stayed in too many saturday nights to get the immediacy of it all, well it was a good discipline. With podcasts, though I have got round to hearing all the No Reason episodes and a few of Ritu's and Mark's broadcasts, I am aware that creating that buzz of conversation is less easy. I guess I just want to say I hope you get enough feedback to encourage you ever onward. It's great!

Really enjoyed the show. Some lovely stuff there, I enjoyed hearing Wolf's "Goin' Down Slow" in that context. Whose copy of "Two Virgins" is that in the photo?

It's Santa's. We're far too young for that kind of smut. I got The Klezmatics and Arthur Alexander.

Thanks for all your comments, they're much appreciated.

There's a copy of "Two Virgins" - still in its original brown paper wrapping - in the 2nd hand record shop here in this little town in N.Cal. The owner invited me to make him an offer for it. He seemed unimpressed when I pulled out a fin.

He obviously didn't realise that you're a guitarist, and failed to comprehend what half a finger was worth in your case.

I meant to say, but forgot - I thought for years that this song was actually called "Going Down South". My brother had the 45 on Pye International R&B, and it was incorrectly titled so. I wonder if Alan B has an old review or press advert that shows this. Gary and I checked the session details on this song to see if Hubert S was playing the guitar on it. It didn't say, but could it really be otherwise? Also, the talking bits are by Willie Dixon, not Mr Wolf.

Thanks again. Just like the old days - listening to a program without seeing a playlist first. This summer I visited the Hank Williams Museum in Montgomery, where the prize exhibit is the Cadillac convertible in which Hank died. "Baby blue" is the official colour description. I was fascinated to learn that Hank Jnr. used it for three years to commute to high school, which must have impressed the girls.

As Norman said - thanks for all your kind comments. We've been wondering about delaying writing the track listings on the No Reason page so you get a kind of 'radio' experience i.e don't know what's coming next. Maybe it should be our New Year resolution?

'B'-side of the 1964 release of 'Smokestack Lightnin(g)' which for five weeks featured in the lower reaches of the UK Top 50. Label shot here (ex-juke box copy?) -

One vote for not putting up the track listing straight away.
