Knut Reiersrud - I Don't Feel No Ways Tired

Postby Chris P » Sun Dec 18, 2011 9:59 am

Good Sunday music. Reiersrud has one of the most musical touches of all guitarists, and his phrasing is as good as it gets. Nice SG for Adam to admire too

it's a balm, man

Thanks Chris, that is lovely. He's a new one for me. Only one question: why that hat?

Doing a bit YouTube jumping, I found another good one from him, accompanying Mighty Sam McClain

This time, in another non-blues hat, more Apprentice Boys parade than Glastonbury.

That is lovely, Chris. I never gave him permission to play my guitar but he does play it beautifully (you know I play a blond SG, right?). I've never heard of him. Strange music, bit of jazz, bit of gospel, but very pleasant indeed. Why is he bending his fingers back between phrases during the first minute or two? I think we should be told.

Adam I think your SG is justly notorious, in the best possible sense, around these parts.
As for Knut, I've been aware of his gorgeous playing for a long time thanks to BBC R3's Fiona Talkington's championing of him. Judging by many of the Youtube clips she's been an exceptionally good filter, as on their evidence (barring Norman's tasty choice) I might have to revise my opinion of his music down a tad. That said: when he's good, he's very very good: so here are 2 nice samples

A young, stylish hatted & gorgeous voiced Juldeh Camara is the star in this one (after a minute's folky knoodling from Knut):

And this is characterful live Knut extending the amplified acoustic guitar in sound & approach, whilst again mining the bluesy gospel:

Well, it might just be me but it's certainly, to my ear, (my good one that is) find myself singing "Holy Cow" by Lee Dorsey ..... and then effortlessly slip back into shades of "Michele" by the band who were actually the original Rutles, their name often escapes me cos the drummer get's on my wick. So you were nearly there Chris.

peace and appiness
