<i>RICHARD THOMPSON'S show 1000 Years Of Popular Music - although maybe this doesn't count as he only performed it in America in 2004. He did it in the UK at Sadler's Wells in 2003, but since then he's added further songs. If you haven't seen it, then it does excatly what it says - a millennium of song in a two hour concert ranging from an 11th centry madrigal to a Britney Spears cover... </i>

I must catch this if he does it again. I did nominate the Britney cover for Charlie's cover version programme, but maybe I chose the wrong song? It is great fun though.

Undoubtedly Jorge Ben Jor and Trio Mocotó at the Barbican in July - we were truly in the presence of a god.

Being with young child and partner who works shifts, this is a real bummer for me - I am really stuck with festivals. I know that charlie has been dipping his toe a little into the murky pond of folk recently, but Spiers and Boden's Bellowhead are really the future of rock and roll. Their EP doesn't quite get the live performance and I am sure Ian Anderson has already been knocking down Mr G's door with it, but its what I'll go for.

Well my best gig - was when I walked out of the office after a particularly crappy day and in Trafalgar Square I hear ...The Bollywood Brassband - letting rip with a crowd cheering and jumping in a most un-British way - so free gig that did exactly what its says on the tin - it uplifted spirits and gave joy (including to me) and what can one ask for more than that from music?
