I would agree entirely with your comments, Howard, if it were writers only that were expected to buy the CD. It would be a pity to ditch the essay style, which flows much better than track-by-track comments might, but I see no harm in the (CD2:3) notation especially for people who are completely unfamiliar with most of the artists. At least then your average punter (who surely we would all like to see picking this stuff up at some point) with the CD on in the background, would find it easier to react to stand-out tracks. "Wow, what's that? CD 1, track 2, let's see what that's all about in the sleevenotes", etc. Keeping the essay style might then have them reading about the connections CG has made and listening out for the 'similar' tracks. All idealistic stuff, but not that far removed from some of our own experiences, I'm sure.
Congrats to Charlie are due for World 2004's nomination in the fRoots/Radio 3 Cd of the Year Awards. I guess as the other 3 nominees are single-artist ones, that makes yours the Best "various artists" CD of the Year.

I've got one of the songs from your World 2004 CD now,Tijaniyya, by Youssou N'dour. Norman sent it to me & after I downloaded it, my computer gave me the information where it came from. At least I think it's right.
I really love it! It's beautiful. I'm feeling like this singer is what my heart has been wanting, as far as music goes only I didn't recognise it.
I don't know what to say about it besides that, but if I can find your CD, I am sure I will get it.
