In its early days there were vociferous complaints from at least one poster on here that Spotify was ripping off artists and many of us were made to feel a sense of guilt for using its services.

Decent royalties now being paid under its new business model and most if not all artists now happy, according to Billboard:

Spotify has now paid more than 500 million dollars to rights holders.

Interesting to revist this discussion from five years ago.

Spotify was today valued at 16 BILLION dollars ahad of its flotation on the NYSE.

More importantly, for good or bad it has revolutionised the way music is consumed.
