Spotify [Second Post]

I finally got round to signing up after many months on my internet to do list.

Good for me to listen to stuff not in or wanted in my collection. Also wanted to see how good the choice is. Having two sound cards is handy and connected the p.c. up to the hi-fi and the quality is very good. I might take second, third etc look at my collection and make some space.

I decided for my first full listening experience is The Seeds and reminds me of a night in the very early 80's I used to go to. 60's revival Psyche night with DJ the Doctor from Doctor and the Medics.

I'm still baffled by what's missing - the entire album Learn to Love It, the best album by Jesse Winchester even though they have most of his other stuff. And they don't have 'Third Rate Romance' by The Amazing Rhythm Aces either.

End of parallel universe in sight. People own records and listen to them shock horror.

Yes, I hope so too.

I guess my concern is pure self-interest: is there still a place for a judiciously chosen compilation?

Spent the last few days checking out what I can find and my resulting playlist

it's raining outside but it's ...,

how cool is that ....,

it's been a horrible drying day but i said I would iron some 't' shirts (not wolf ones mind you).

So what better way than to listen to some music.

so I just 'cut & paste'

spotify:user:lpmale:playlist:0pSwX6GO6r8uxbOwc6oRd0

into the search bar and 'hit' enter....,

it's a pity leon's not here to help with the ironing though.

Thanks Ritchie - Leon's link foxed me entirely - I tried to put www. in front of it and that didn't work.

So for anybody else trying it out, you have to go to Spotify and then follow Ritchie's instructions

Perhaps this link is better.

Sorry about the the previous link but both seem to work. Just what you need endless hours of music for house chores. Like ironing, perhaps we can as trade house hold tips on the best fabric softener to use!!!

is it time for bed yet?

I like that...,

you know how it was when you were younger ...loads of energy ... always on the go ... you would set off running and you would think "i'll not have a rest until I get to a certain point' ... but you kept on running anyway no stopping. Then as you got older the stamina started to wane.

Well I decided to iron to Leon's playlist.

a couple of things ...,

i) Okay look, I hate to admit it, I'm not used to ironing, but I must say I did enjoy, it thanks to Leon and spotify.

ii) I've just realised that I have loads of shirts that are horrible to iron, the linen and cotton ones.

iii) and it was just like the old day's ... what stamina ... I was n't going to stop until Leon's playlist had finished....another shirt ...then another... a 't' shirt or two ...some trousers more shirts.....,

but 'boy oh boy' ... I'm done for ... if anyone else is considering making a playlist ...please don't make it too long ...even if you have split it into parts, a) b) etc....There is only so much ironing a man can do in one go. (cue for a new sport perhaps)

Ritchie, here's one more song for you to listen to. I had posted a ukelele player "Lamento Borincano" for you on the YouTube section - it's halfway down the page by now, probably. I'm going to track you all over the forum till you listen to this as well as Leon's playlist.

nice one Judith, There is a possibilty I might be meeting the performer, Fran Spain, at the end of the month at a ukulele festival I'm going to.

We are camping, so I hope the air beds and weather hold out ;-)

After enjoying Spotify immensely for a few months it seems I'm now locked out. Everytime I try to log on now I get the following message:

"A firewall may be blocking your internet connection (error 110). Additionally you could try to change the currently used proxy settings"

I have just recently re-installed AVG anti virus - could that be it. Doesn't seem there's a way to temporarily disable it, as with Norton. As for proxy settings I have no idea what they are and don't know how/what to change.

Suggestions welcome! thanks.

Good point Ritchie and I was thinking of a 24 hour party playlist. I will endeavor to think of a more compact list. My Gypsy one is half as long. I am glad you've enjoyed.

Perhaps a long tea break would work!
