From having seen Burra's Don Quijote in Chichester my next depiction of Don Quijote that I saw was by Chagall. I really enjoyed going to the wonderful exhibition that's on in Madrid at the moment. These exhibitions sometimes travel but I don't know if it's coming to London. The majority of the pictures come from private collections. Half is in the Thyssen ... s_actuales and half is in the FundaciĆ³n Caja Madrid. The latter is free to get in. It's an arrangement that they've done quite often and I think is such a good idea. With so much of the population strapped for cash right now it is wonderful that these big exhibitions remain accessible. The richness of the colours, his exploration of dreams, his fascination for the circus and the folkloric imagery... a real feast for the eyes. If you're passing through before 20th May then this is not to be missed.

Whilst there I got to one gig that was pretty good - jazz with North African sounds - Sinouj at the Bogui Jazz Club.
