I think that quite a few people here will find much to like about this:

It's well worth the effort of watching.

I must pay more attention to Rich. He seems like a good guy, and a good guide.

He makes a number of very sharp observations in this programme. I'm not sure if he writes his own material, but I found it informative, funny, and well presented. Plus, he gives some air time to Dave Alvin, of whom I am a fan.

Edit: I've discovered that he did write it, in which case I'm even more impressed.

Rich Hall is a fine acerbic stand-up comedian. The prospect of a programme presented by him and featuring Dave Alvin appeals greatly.

Is anyone familiar with Hall's gravel voiced country singing alter ego Otis Lee Crenshaw? A character with strongly held and spot on views when it comes to whiskey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVvkZ_6TQMA

Watched it. Very enjoyable, with one major gripe. He barely talked about Northern California at all. Did he venture north of San Francisco? That's like making a documentary on England and not going past the Watford Gap.

Adam, there are people who think Watfford Gap is the gateway to Mordor!

PS Northern Calif is beautiful and interesting, but has fewer risible targets than the south. Also Rich's take on some of the computer/internet moguls was fine by me.

I thought his take on the computer industry was delicious! But I wanted to see his take on the Emerald Triangle. I daresay it was too hot for the BBC.
