Chris Hladowski with sister Stephanie & friends aka "The Family Elan". Based up North in England (Bradford or Sheffield, I think), they are playing music with Central Asian, Turkish & Greek roots, but adding their own refraction & creativity.

Here's Chris with Hanna Tuulikki & Patrick Farmer playing in a Sheffield pub a couple of years ago:

It's a vunnerful fing that British born musicians (I think) can be playing music like this

This was a disarmingly charming session - thanks to Trikont's man in Hebden Bridge, Christoph Wagner, for pointing us in their direction!

Thanks for the word, Chris. They sound pretty good. I cheked up Hanna Tuulikki (as the name looked typically Finnish).

Another distuingished expat: potographer, graphic artist and (folk/experimental) musician.
I can't resist adding that the name of their other band Nalle means "little bear" in Finnish.
This is a live clip by them - "Voi Ruusua" is an old Finnish trad tune I think: ... re=related
