WITH the city currently basking in a spell of Mediterranean weather, the arrival of Las Culebras and their Spanish flavours is timely.

Hailing from Pamplona-Iruña, this all-female rock quartet put the Latin into latex-clad rock ‘n’ roll.

After meeting of minds at a club night in 2004, Kriss Teen and Olaia Heep started to meet to play together before bassist Marga Malaria joined the year after and they vegan work on their first EP.

Tours of their homeland followed before laying down tracks for their full-length debut in November 2007.

The line-up was completed in May 2008 when Karmen Kobra joined the band on drums.

Citing AC/DC, Kiss, MC5, Rolling Stones, Elvis, Ike & Tina Turner and T-Rex as influences, Las Culebras (Spanish for The Snakes) appear to have plenty of bite to match their rock ‘n’ roll bark.

Local blues-rockers Indigo Jones headline with Resus, Gaz Grady and Adam Wilmington also on the bill.

Las Culebras played Night & Day on Friday, June an event organized by Instituto Cervantes Manchester. Now they are moving back with their tour in Spain.
