Bless you, Dominic, thanks so much
sounds like a pretty good radio show just looking at those names.

They think it's all over, it isn't now....

Hmmm. I'm not sure that the wikipedia entry gives the complete unabridged version. As I understand it (and I don't really understand it). There are 16 teams that will be in the finals (the wikipedia list above has only 12). And I don't think the qualifying stage to decide on that final 16 is fully complete just yet. I think it all comes to an end on 14th November.

Thanks Gordon. I will wait till after that date before compiling the applicable show.

I did wonder about that. I hope the extra 4 will include teams from Eastern & Southern Africa, for balance.

Looks promising, Dominic. From Gordon's link, it looks like Zambia are also all but through (unless Rwanda beat them convincingly to take third place in Group C), the final place in group B is between Mozambique and Kenya, and Malawi have a good chance in Group E. Other potential qualifiers are Togo, Morrocco and Guinea.

http://www.aboutaball.co.uk/html2/tourn ... ifying.php

So the shortlist reads:-

Angola
Ghana
Ivory Coast
Tunisia
Algeria
Egypt
Cameroon
Gabon
Nigeria
Mali
Benin
Burkina Faso
Zambia or Rwanda
Mozambique or Kenya
Malawi or Guinea
Togo or Morrocco

EDIT: Final list of qualifiers:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Afric ... fied_teams

Angola
Ghana
Ivory Coast
Tunisia
Algeria
Egypt
Cameroon
Gabon
Nigeria
Mali
Benin
Burkina Faso
Zambia
Mozambique
Malawi
Togo

Thanks so much for this, it has been quite hard to find information about this competition in the papers, particularly given the confusion that several of the same teams are contesting a place in the finals of the World Cup, in which Nigeria, Ghana and Ivory Coast are through and Algeria fight it out with Egypt for the last place tomorrow night.

Another tick in the box for Wikipedia, and thanks Dominic for that invaluable link
