290: Peter Serafinowicz as John, Paul, George and Ringo

Peter Serafinowicz's new show can be a bit hit and miss but when it's good, it's brilliant. And you've got to admire his attention to detail. I'd be curious to know what Adam makes of this:

Wonderful. Very good Ringo impression. Was watching The Rutles the other day. Some of it's aged very badly (the Eric Idle narration is excruciatingly un-funny) but the songs and some of the sketches are still spot-on.

I've not seen the Rutles in decades though I can imagine remembered Idle lines like 'they were a legend in their own lunchtime,' which so tickled our pun-loving funny bones as teenagers, would seem very weak now.

At the time I think I even prefered some of the Rutles songs to the rather stuffy-seeming Beatles - like the delightful, heart-warming 'I Must Be In Luv' or whatever it was called (grabs coat and runs for cover.)

"Am I in luv? (ah-ah)
I must be in luv"

Fab. Totally gear. What's happening. Utterly non-grotty.

The Beatlebox advert is great too.

Yep Rutles are still fab. My sense of humour is not particularly sophisticated so I still laugh at it.
