We had Radio France's FIP radio on last night and among the many interesting tracks played was this great piece of New Orleans funk;

Eldridge Holmes, The Book,

I can only see one previous reference; and almost ten years ago

I could find no more than a couple of mentions of him in the books by John Broven and Jeff Hannusch, my first reference points for the music of New Orleans, but several tracks of his are included on some N.O. compilations I have. He appears to have released 17 singles between 1962 and 1972, popular locally but never had any national hits - all arranged and produced by Allen Toussaint (aka Naomi Neville) with or without Marshall Sehorn. The Meters played on on the session for Pop Popcorn Children / Cheatin' Woman.

He also had an earlier (1964) release on a Popcorn theme
