Ola Belle Reed - singer, banjo player, and writer of songs including ‘High on the Mountain’ and ‘I’ve Endured’ - born Ola Wave Campbell one hundred years ago today, 18th* August, 1916 (Grassy Creek, Ashe County, North Carolina) [died 16th August, 2002] a member of the North Carolina Ridge Runners in the 1930s, she recorded for Starday Records in the 60s and later for Rounder, Folkways, and Kicking Mule
