John "Bucky" Wilkin (26th April Birthday)

John "Bucky" Wilkin (Born 26th April, 1946) - the son of Marijohn Wilkin, the co-writer of 'Long Black Veil'; 'Cut Across Shorty'; & 'Ramblin' Rose ( by Jerry Lee Lewis, Ted Taylor, the MC5 etc.)

A session guitarist for artists including Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, & Kinky Friedman; in the mid 60s he had been "Ronny" of Ronny and the Daytonas - they had the hit single version of 'Bucket 'T' (recently heard here by Jan & Dean, their version being originally only an LP track) after being offered the song by one of the writers, Roger Christian.

'G.T.O.' (1964) written by John Wilkin was their first, and biggest hit, produced by Bill Justis (of 'Raunchy')
