Clive Powell - born 26th June, 1943 (Leigh, Lancashire)

'J.A.Blues' (1963) - first release by the Blue Flames, one of two instrumental singles for Rita & Benny King's R&B label, prior to signing to EMI

'Monkeying Around' - playing live on "Ready Steady Go!", probably 1965

'Getaway' (1966) - last single with the Blue Flames - a truncated version filmed live for French TV

or alternatively (recommended for train spotters) a later video with Georgie for German TV

And, furthermore, Eric Monty Morris's "Humpty Dumpty" - in German!

Another Blue Beat tune by him, Prince Buster's "Madness":

"Night Train", a terrific live take from mid-60's (I think):

I first read about him sometime in the late 70's and for a long time I was under the impression that he was just one of the pretty faced teen idols from back in the 60's. How wrong can you be?

Night Train/Parchman Farm/Work Song/Baby Please Don't Go

Getaway (SEG 8518) 1966
Getaway/See-Saw/Ride Your Pony/Sitting In The Park

Condition all round is amazingly good. Will give them a spin and see how they've fared!

I've always liked Georgie Fame, even on those occasions when his coolness seemed to have deserted him.

Didn't he have a role in some kind of TV series under his given name? Or am I confusing him with somebody else?

Don't know about that, Alan. But, on checking Wikipedia, I discovered that"Fame is a supporter of the Countryside Alliance and has played concerts to raise funds for the organisation".

Er, just saying.

IMDB found it for me series with Liza Goddard, Yes, Honestly 1976, he appeared in two episodes. My reason for watching the series would have definitely been Goddard....

Er, just saying.

Yes, well, I did say something about his cool occasionally slipping.

The brass lick on "Getaway" is a vicious earworm and has been in my head for 45 years.
