Waylon Arnold Jennings - born 15th June, 1937 (Littlefield, Texas) [died 13th February, 2002] - born 75 years ago today.

The bass player for Buddy Holly's last tour - he gave up his seat on the plane to the Big Bopper. In the mid 60s he shared a Nashville appartment with Johnny Cash for a while - possibly his only contender for the coolest looking country singer of the decade.

'Mental Revenge' (Wilburn Brothers' TV show, with poor excuse for a Christmas Tree; late 60s) - Mel Tillis song

One I posted earlier - in 2007, I see now. Spot the similarity to another song.

Charlie liked this version, me too. Do you remember we had some discussion about this back in 2007, Norman? Incidentally, the Waylon clip is from the Porter Wagoner Show 1966.

Sinéad wins hands down with this one. Discussion in 2007? Yes, I do remember....vaguely. Ah, I was so much older then.
