Sam Lay - born 20th March, 1935 (Birmingham, Alabama) - drummer with Howlin' Wolf in the early 60s - he quit with bassist Jerome Arnold to join the Butterfield Blues Band ca. 1964, playing on their first album.

Talking at a workshop in 2010 about his move from the Wolf to Butterfield, and playing with Dylan at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival
(later removed from YT)

He often appears to play guitar, rather than drums, these days, but here on drums & vocals with the Siegel-Schwall Band in 2009 - 'Poison Ivy'

with Howlin' Wolf in 1961 - 'You'll Be Mine'

Sam later recorded his own version of Maggie's Farm on his 1969 Blue Thumb LP "Sam Lay in Bluesland"

The film appears to have been screened at some festivals during 2015/6; I'm unsure what plans exist to make it more available.
