Terry Reid - Live Life

Adam's Small Faces post got me on a Terry Reid kick. Terry's output hasn't always been as good as it could be - who's has? - and his reputation seems to be dogged by the story of him passing up Jimmy Page's invitation to front what became Led Zeppelin, but his eponymous album (the one which featured 'Silver White Light') is one of the few albums from my early teenage years that remains listenable.

This is from a later album, 'Terry Reid: River', where he stretches out a bit into funky/jazzy territory:

Enjoy.

Can never understand why his summer UK tours are such low key events.
With a good band behind that'll push him, he's still a great live act with an ear for a good song and audiences love him. He tells a great story, as well.
Only person I've seen cover the Beatles 'A Day In The Life' onstage and carry it off.
If he made a proper album of some of his recent live act staples, it would be warmly welcomed, but perhaps Terry's content with things as they are. I've read that Rumer is covering him on her next album. I hope he's got his publishing sorted.

Jack White's Raconteurs project covered Terry's 'Rich Kid Blues' recently, which was also done by M Faithful. Yes: let's hope he's got his publishing sorted.

I was a great fan of Terry Reid even had an American import LP of 'Bang Bang'.

So I was a 'tadge' disappointed he did n't quite 'make it'.

A little while ago he was on up here and I missed out on going to see him. I asked someone at the venue what he was like and they said "a huge disappointment, he was either drunk or so stoned he did n't even know who he was"

This is 2012, money is getting hard to come by ... I hope he's 'cleaned' his act up and I wish him well.

Well, it's sad that you should mention this, because I was trying to avoid making reference to an earlier posting that I made a couple of years back along the same lines:

I suppose the guy likes a drink - and from what I've read of his life in LA, that would seem to be the case; if you go to see him, take that into account and don't get your expectations up too high. But he's still got a great voice; I'd be happy to travel to hear him sing again.
