Charles Henry Christian - born 29th July, 1916 (Bonham, Texas) [died 2nd March, 1942] - born 95 years ago today.

'Swing To Bop' - recorded in a club by an enthusiast in May, 1941. wikipedia records that he was admitted to a sanatorium during the following month.

Nice choice, John. My favourite jazz guitarist by some distance apart from Django who is just... Django. Christian is one of the great 'what if's' in jazz. To have achieved so much by the age of 25, we'll never know what he could have done if tuberculosis hadn't killed him.
