Love it! I've not seen him for a few years now. He was a regular on the London club circuit, especially from the mid-80s, when he toured with Flaco Jiménez in his band, a really rocking Tejano-bluegrass sound. I met him by chance one time in an American bookshop (the poetry section, no less) and had one of those inconsequential, and slightly embarrassing conversations, you have when you find The Man unexpectedly standing next to you. The main thing that struck me was that his civvies were like his stage clothes - hat, bandana, fancy jacket. I should have talked about Bill Monroe, of course, or guitars, but there you go, and there it went.

Yes, a nice song about Doc who appeared at his final Merlefest in 2012 only a month before he passed on

Peter with hat - 2016; without hat - 2014. Also Mandolin Orange only appeared to possess one pair of glasses, worn by the fiddle player in 2014; mandolinist in 2016
