Poor quality sound and vision, but priceless.

Now available in better quality, with more of Aretha lip-syncing in the TV studio at the beginning of the clip.

Oh, thanks John. Isn't that just great. If I could be in a room with a group of musicians working out a tune like that I'd have a silly grin on my face too (just like Jerry).

Any idea who some of the other characters are? The Black guy with a moustache looks a bit of a non-contributing ligger (so probably a manager or husband). The white man with the grey-streaked beard is Tom Dowd ("checking the rhythmic and mathematical observation of what's happening" - not a bad job description of arranger).

Yes, that's Ted White, I believe - he was both Aretha's manager and husband at the time. Musicians on the session included Roger Hawkins (drums) & Tommy Cogbill (bass). Spooner Oldham was present but appears not to have played on 'Ain't No Way'; Jimmy Johnson, Bobby Womack, and Joe South may also have been there, having played on other songs recorded at the time (info from discography and "Memphis Boys" by Roben Jones which I have, but haven't read yet).
