Well, I agree with everything Charlie says about Chris Barber. Although I was a little (born 1950...) young to fully appreciate skiffle Finally gort to see the Chris Barber Band in Southport, around 1981, with Dr John. I regret to say that I was disappointed, with both band and guest. It was with some trepidation that I went to see the band, sans the good (and excellent) Doctor at one of the Liverpool Big Tent ewvents towards the end of 2005. What can I say? They were brilliant, they have obviously improved as they entered their seventies...or is it their eighties?

Or maybe a few shards have falled from mine eyes...

Van Morrison played a brief but fine set before racing off to catch the last plane to Dublin, and into the breech stepped Andy Fairweather Lowe, who somewhat surprisingly rocked the house with some of the finest spirituals I have ever heard, ably backed by Chris and Co., who excelled in their solo work.

It was nice to be surpised and delighteds, at my age I would settle for either.

Rock on, thanks for a great show

Ian
