Archive of Charlie's shows

Postby Rob Hall » Mon Apr 02, 2012 10:25 am

A query from Willy reminded me that the Mondomix archive of Charlie's shows (not all of them, but plenty to be going on with) is available here:

http://mondomix.com/blogs/charlie-gillett.php

There are other examples of his broadcasts available around the web. Maybe this thread would be a good place to collect the links together.

Thank you Rob, for that link, it is exactly what I hoped to find, having missed so many of his shows. I'm listening now to the Mondomix archive and apart from the news bulletins, Charlie's programmes seem timeless, perhaps because, for me at least, they are so informative (almost tutorials) as well as being so ear friendly :)

This BBC web page has two programmes available for the next few days:
Sun Records of Memphis, Tennessee
and
The Sound of New Orleans:

This blog by Wastedpapers has quite a few of Charlie's Shows - as well as being in itself rather wonderful.

Thanks Rob, it's only right and proper that there's an Archive on this site.

Well, it was a query from Willy that prompted it. I did post that Mondomix link previously, but it was part of another thread and it slipped down the list. At least by naming this thread in this way, it will be easier for people to find.

By the way, there is a link to the Mondomix archive on the front page of this site, but it hasn't worked for a long time. Presumably, they moved the files at some point.

time for another plug for the excellent Radio Downloader http://www.nerdoftheherd.com/tools/radiodld/

- go to 'Find a Programme', 'Available on BBC iPlayer', search for 'I' and 'Insight'
- and if you want, you can then download these two documentaries by Charlie
Insight - Sun Records of Memphis, Tennesse
Insight - The Sound of New Orleans
