Last night while listening to Charlie's R3 show I was trapping and identifying moths. Beat that.

So you don't want to see my Bright-line Brown-Eye then?

That chat-up line never seems to work.

A year or so after starting the Radio London show (1996, I suppose), I asked listeners to say what they were doing while they listened.

One woman took the radio to the bathoom and soaked up the music.

A man sat in the arm chair in the sitting room with headphones on while the rest of the family watched Cilla Black's show on the telly.

But although there were mothers who struggled to listen while putting their kids to bed, I don't recall any mothers of the Des variety.

Recently, due to the late hour and my advancing years, I wake up about two-thirds of the way through with drool coming out of my mouth, Homer Simpson style.

But I did get lost once up Ben Vorlich listening to a recorded 2004 show. As I recall, Daara J, Gypsy Kings, and JJC & 419 Squad was the perfect soundtrack for.. er ... chilling out halfway up or halfway down (I was lost) a mountain.

PS Des, mum's the word.
