I managed to pick up a bad sinus infection. It's very uncomfortable. I was in the waiting room waiting ot see the doctor and kept coughin and coughin, but into a tissue. I kept feeling like everyone was looking ta me and thinking, Could you get away? Ha ha! As soon as I got the chance, I moved to a chair in the corner. That way, I could cough.

As we are expecting to get a lashing from the tail end of Hurricane Katia, us local group of Marine Mammal Medics are preparing for the worst and making sure our individual kits are complete. Therefore I was in a local chemist this morning buying several tubes of KY jelly.

Snigger ye not!

In case you didn't know, it is used to protect the eyes and skin of cetacea from windburn.

A well known animal artist freinded me on facebook, and she likes my drawing of my cat, Bambi! It was just a quick sketch I did of her, when I was tying to draw from life, only I didn't think it was very good. But she likes it! He he! It's so nice to be noticed!

More whale stuff - I was asked to travel down to this yesterday and was even offered a ride in a helicopter but had to decline as was so ridiculously busy at work. It seems unlikely that me bringing a set of pontoons would have made a whit of difference.

Am on total voice rest following a really horrible throat lurgy - not allowed to talk, or laugh out loud, and am to avoid coughing for 2 weeks!
Husband told me today how he missed me shouting at him - I'm sure he meant to say how he missed my rational and coherent discussions with him.

NHS uniform came today. Up until now us lowly admin grunts have been allowed to wear civvies as long as we were reasonably smart. Mixed feelings ...

Nah - just NHS Scotland (thankfully less adulterated than south of the border)

The weather on Craggy Island continues to be lovely (unlike the rest of Britain that has had much flooding) we even have had leaflets from Scottish Water urging us to conserve the stuff and that if this dry spell continues we may even get a hosepipe ban!) so I've been able to do lots of whale and dolphin observations as the sea has been so calm. Lots of lovely stuff, minke whales seen most days, orcas on several occasions and last night a big group of White-sided Dolphins that were close in and being spectacular - much leaping, tail slapping and generally frolicking about.
Not been listening to much music though.

Our drought continues - yes we had a little more rain over the last few weeks but we still are way down on the seasonal average, lochs and rivers are very low and there have been several moorland fires (dry peat is very inflammable).
I have continued watching out for whales and dolphins from land, and in the last couple of weeks I have seen: Orcas, Minke and Fin Whales; Common, Risso's, White Sided and White Beaked Dolphins; plus the locally resident porpoises - they have a very new calf with them, tiny and corrugated with neo-natal folds.
I hope to be getting out onto the briny with a research group who are up here at the moment. I'll try to take some pics but it is so hard without specialist kit .. am saving the small change for a decent DSLR and lens.
