I admit I just started hearing about it recently, but this site tells about it a little. It originated in Cincinnati, which I didn't know.
You play it by throwing bean bags back and forth and the one that gets it in the hole, gets points.

I was out yesterday morning exploring my local patch enjoying the ravens, buzzards and kestrels together with some low-flying swallows yet to leave for warmer climes when I came across a splurge of yellow signs informing me and any other passer-by that the Blenheim Palace Cycle Event (which probably involves cycling) is due to take place this weekend and that one should expect delays. This was an "advanced [sic] warning". An elementary warning presumably would have said "Look out for bikes!" Why can't these barbarians just ride round and round Blenheim Palace (a good 40 or 50 miles away) instead of disturbing the tranquility of my neighbourhood? Here endeth the latest rant. There'll be another one along soon.

The second session of my drumming classes last night - my new teacher Alphonse has a completely different approach to teaching than my classically-trained British-born former teacher Ben who taught from a more or less strictly Ghanaian perspective. Alphonse is more pan-African and concentrates very much on keeping to the beat above all else, but also has given us a good insight into the 'meaning' of the sounds we produce - drumming as a kind of musical syntax, with the correct execution of slap, tone and bass in each piece being crucial.
