Fun In The Mud

Postby Dayna » Tue Jul 31, 2007 9:56 pm

I read some of the comments about different people's experiences at Womad & I still wish I could have been there. I still sounded great. It brings back memories of when I've been to fairs & horse shows where it rained constantly. One was a horse show, & the mud was so deep where the horses were being ridden, their shoes kept coming off. They had to keep calling time out, so the ferrier could come in & put the horses shoes back on.
Then another was at a county fair, with my Mom. The car she drove was in a muddy parking lot & had to be pushed out with a bull- dozer. getting to her car, we slipped & fell several times & got absolutley covered in mud, but we were just laughing & laughing. her car ended up being filthy! But we had the time of our lives.
I would have loved to have been there & listened to all that wonderful music in the mud & rain with others.

Anyone know the origin of this rhyme?

"Mud, mud, glorious mud
Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood
So follow me, follow
Down to the hollow
Where we can wallow
In glorious mud"

Yes, could be. I thought it was older than that, though. Gilbert & Sullivan??
