Roy Hawkins - bluesman who first recorded "The Thrill Is Gone" (1951) which became the theme song for B.B. King from late 60s onwards. Hawkins also recorded Why Do Everything Happen To Me (1949) but made "famous" by James Brown. Does he qualify?
