Second award nomination for Jim Moray

In the history of this forum, which has seen a number of spats, some of them quite ill-tempered, and some resulting in potential contributors flouncing off, never to return, nobody has accepted an alternative point of view with such humour and good grace as Jim Moray achieved in the discussion about the fRoots Critics Album of the Year award.

As the person whose point of view was being so gently disagreed with, I would like to nominate Jim for a special award, whose title will have to be separately established.

Perhaps Jim might agree to come to a Sound of the World Relay event to receive it. I would be glad to pay his fare if he could spare the time.

Any seconders, dissenters?

Excellent idea, Charlie! I thought Jim was unreasonably tolerant of us grumpy wordly types. But what to call it? The 'Folk It' of the year award?

Well, maybe he was just intelligent enough to realise that the views being expressed had nothing against him - or even his music - and in fact were simply looking for an outcome that would best server both folk and World by doubling the amount of coverage that both genres would get. But let's not go there again.

But, yeah, great idea! I third the suggestion and would happily buy the man a drink if he came down to Darbucka to accept it. By the way, do folk singers drink they same drinks we drink? I've often wondered.

Perhaps Jim Moray would also be willing to present a 'Curmudgeon of the Year' award? We could draw up a very short list. :-)

Howard asked:

do folk singers drink they same drinks we drink?

No, they're very hygenic nowadays and use a separate tankard.

Great idea.

Would anyone have any objections if we invited Jim to perform on the night?

(exits stage left in double quick time so as to avoid the hail of Bolan albums, Camille posters etc, which have been thrown with great force from various parts of South London)

Believe it or not, Jamie, I'd be delighted to hear him live. I even quite liked the track CG played last Friday night. I often find myself being converted to a band or singer once I've head them live (see yesterday's Watcha Clan live review as the most recent example.)
