The Music Group, BBC Radio 4

I happened to hear this programme by accident today while driving - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/musicgroup/ - the blurb says "Comedian, broadcaster and GP Dr Phil Hammond asks each of three guests to play the track of their choice. With Mark Steel, Joe Boyd and Dr Alice Roberts."

It's an animated studio discussion - Roberts picked Dylan's Masters Of War which brought out some fine anecdotal Joe Boyd stuff, who in turn picked The Comedian Harmonists. Steel chose the Johnny Cash/ Joe Strummer version of Bob Marley's Redemption Song. It was good to hear people talking passionately and engagingly about music - recommend it on the replayer til next Wednesday I suppose.

I think Joe's doing a retro-selection in the Kershaw slot the next couple of weeks.

Since Joe Boyd seems to know almost everything, it's curious he didn't mention the fact that the Comedian Harmonists' song he liked was a version of You're Driving Me Crazy. I wonder if he ever heard it by the Temperance Seven.
