What he said and long may it be so! All the best !

It doesn't seem 3 years have gone by. I think the bad news of your illness was right after the show with K'Naan, if I remember correctly. Thank you for the update, Charlie, and the good news of it.

Brilliant stuff Charlie. It sounds like a very nasty condition which you have overcome. Onward and upward.

Crikey, Charlie, that's a long, grim haul. From personal experience I know that steroids are nasty medicine. If I recall right, almost as bad to come off as to start. I'm glad you're beginning to feel better — but you still have my sympathies. Onward and upward as Des says!

...............so finally the magic potions from the east cured poor Charlie. Now he could go out and get those new blue suede shoes he'd so longed for, but first he'd have to seek the Rock'n'Roll Doctor's advice.........

"This is the worst case of 12 bar blues I've ever seen" - Roger Ruskin Spear ("Dr Rock")

You seem amazingly chipper for a 66 year old man on steroids, Charlie. It must be all that booze you never drank, all those fags you never smoked, all those drugs you never took - but mostly, all that boundless enthusiasm for music. Awe inspiring. Truly.

Adam:

Roger Ruskin Spear ("Dr Rock")

Never knew he was known thus Adam, always associated this honorary title with Charles White, the Irish chiropodist, DJ, writer etc etc

But also couldn't help being reminded of Little Feat

"Two degrees in be-bop, a PHD in swing
He's the master of rhythm he's a rock and roll king"

Perhaps Charlie himself better merits the title for both for his knowledgablity and therapeutic influence. Stay well Mr G.

No, sorry, misleading. "Dr Rock" is a track off Spear's first solo album - the very wonderful "Electric Shocks".

used to live for a time with Korean accupuncturists/herbalists/ makers of chinese medicine. Smelled like hell all the time, but from what I heard from others, and observed is that, by God, it worked !

What was once mainstream medicine is now "alternative" and what was once "alternative" is now mainstream. Crazy that way.

Here's to your continued health, Charlie !
