The Wonderful World of Tony Blair

Postby Adam Blake » Tue Sep 27, 2011 2:04 pm

Interesting edition of Dispatches, presented by Peter Oborne.

One can't help wondering if Blair isn't one of the most accomplished bullshit artists of all time. Given that the most important attribute a b/s artist must have is an unshakeable belief in their own b/s, who can rival Blair in this? An egregiously greedy, evil little parasite who genuinely believes himself to be a force for great good - and is accepted as such by a great many people.

Agred, Adam. If a novelist created a character like Blair people would dismiss it as "unbelievable" - even slick US politicians like Bush and Clinton end up eating Blair's dust, he really seems to exist as some kind of evil grinning friendly cyborg, the kind that says "trust me" while smilingly dropping bombs and counting his millions. To think he arose out of the socialist 1980s Labour Party just makes the entire persona even stranger.
